Diablo IV Paragon Board Explained

Paragon

Today let's take a look at the paragon board system in Diablo IV - an open-world ARPG. Diablo IV progresses beyond the Skill system and into the endgame with the Paragon boards. Once you reach level 50, skill points are maxed out, and you will start to earn Paragon points. When do you earn Paragon points at each level beyond level 50? You will earn four points for each new level, as there is a level cap of 100 in Diablo IV. So you'll earn 200 Paragon points in the end game to use on the Paragon boards with a cap on Paragon Points. Unlike Diablo III, you will have to choose your Paragon path wisely in the end game.

What is a paragon board? At level 50, you'll be presented with a starting board, and each class will start with the board suitable for their class. Initially, you'll work out from the center of the first board using accrued points. As you continue to level beyond 50, you'll assign your Paragon points into slots on the Paragon board to make your way across the board to a Gate tile. When you reach the Gate tile at the edge of the map, you will then select a new Paragon board to attach to your current board. Players will have a choice of boards and will be able to rotate them to help find the best route across the board for their build goals.

What are the different Paragon tiles on the board? Various tile types are broken down as follows: Normal Tiles provide a player with a small and meaningful boost and are common on each board. Magic tiles are found in clusters and provide a potent and more diverse set of benefits. These are less common than Normal tiles. Rare tiles offer significant boosts to power. Rare tiles also have additional powers that unlock once a player has raised an attribute to a sufficient level. There are six Rare tiles per board, and, finally, Legendary tiles are found at the center of each Paragon board. These provide a new legendary power.

What are Glyphs? In addition to the different tile types, glyphs can also be slotted into special sockets on the Paragon boards. Glyphs found in the sanctuary and dungeons provide benefits when embedded into Paragon board based on active tiles within their radius. Glyphs can also be leveled up and often have different qualities, such as Rare or Magic, with the higher quality glyphs being more powerful. Blizzard stated Glyphs could also be leveled up by delving into some particularly dangerous dungeons, leveling up a glyph extensive radius of their effect, allowing each one to draw power from or impart power to even more active tiles. However, there has yet to be any further information on how the glyph leveling up occurs, but it will involve the nightmare dungeons in the endgame.

Blizzard plans to extend the Paragon board system after the game's launch by adding new boards with Diablo IV being a live service game. Blizzard has confirmed that. We will also constantly add new, legendary, and unique items, paragon boards, glyphs, and more, continually refreshing the meta and creating new build opportunities. The Paragon boards will enhance the endgame beyond the Skill system, and players must make meaningful choices now that the Paragon system is finite.

Now you know all about Paragon Boards in D4. As soon as something changes, we will update this article.
